Les Devoirs de 9B le 1 Juin.

Bonjour Students and Parents of 9B :)

As you know we are currently working on individual oral presentations for French class which begin June 9th. Students are to present a 2-4 minute presentation on a topic of their choice using a French vocabulary except for proper nouns and/or if students are performing a song, the song itself could be in English. The presentation should be informative with a personal aspect as well. So, the students will tell the class about something and make a personal connection with what they are presenting.

There is no written evaluation for this assignment but if students are showing slides or creating posters as part of their visual then they must proofread their work. The students have this rubric.

Students are required to have three different visual aids. Some suggestions are: slidehows, props, costumes, posters, pictures, demonstrations, video clips etc. Students are responsible to test their technology well before the presentations. If students are using slideshows they must be emailed to me to avoid the logging in on and logging out of accounts which takes up to 5 minutes between each presentation.

In order to prepare students for the reality of high school and work life, I will not be granting extensions on this assignment barring emergency situations. If students are absent on the day they are due to present, they will be deducted marks in accordance with the late assignment policy. Furthermore, they will be required to present on their lunch hour or possibly after exams depending on my availability during lunch hours (due to lunchtime supervision and extra help).

Parents can be of great assistance to this project by providing reminders and time at home to work on this project, asking their child to practice the presentation several times with a timer and their technology. The rubric for this assignment evaluates students pronunciation, use of French vocabulary, body language and intonation. This presentation should be dynamic and energetic (not read from pages of notes or from the slideshow). Recipe cards, with jot notes are allowed. So far students have had two full periods in the library and they are scheduled for 1 more on Friday:)

The following is a schedule of presentation times:

Le jeudi 9 juin jour 6 5ième période : Laura, Dominique, Gary, Stephen, Sam L,
